I'm happy to announce that I will be hosting a summer fundraising math camp in June! After the success of the last camp in December 2023, with 16 students, I raised over $2300 to support the Little Mill Math Team by registering students for the MOEMS and Noetic Competitions.

This summer, I want to offer a one-week boot camp for late elementary to middle school students to hone their math competition skills. All funds raised from this math camp will go directly to Boyd Elementary School Supplies Drive and the Little Mill MS Math Team. Both are Title 1 schools I have previously helped. To better aid these schools, In the pursuit of academic excellence, I believe in providing students with opportunities that go beyond the classroom, and this math camp is a fantastic way to nurture a love for numbers and problem-solving.

Camp Details

  • Time: 10 AM - 12 PM

  • Dates: June 3 - June 7

  • Cost: $180 for the entire camp ($18/hr)

  • Content: MATHCOUNTS State and AMC 8 concepts and problems

  • First-come, first-serve. Max 10 students

For more information, please see the attached flyer.

Hello! I want to share a wonderful opportunity for girls interested in STEM, particularly math and computer science. The Math and AI 4 Girls (MA4G) is a nonprofit organization that hosts an annual competition to support middle school girls exploring STEM fields. This competition is completely free to enter, and it has great prizes, including cash awards for the top 20 girls and $1,000 for the winner! There is also some awesome merchandise for the top 50 competitors. Participants will have the opportunity to be a part of a great community, with potential mentorships from older role models and an opportunity to serve on the competition committee.

I was a participant in this competition two years ago, placing 16th overall. Since then, I have volunteered on the Problem Set Team and I now serve as the Lead Technical Officer for MA4G. This event is a wonderful competition that exposes STEM-oriented girls to challenging, yet still exciting, problems. As a math competitor, I enjoyed the inclusive environment MA4G created and the talented girls I have met. This competition is a great opportunity for middle school girls to dive deeper into STEM concepts while overcoming barriers in such fields.

At the end of this post is a flyer with more information about the competition. If there are any questions, my inbox is always open!

Unlocking the potential of young minds in the world of mathematics is a thrilling journey, and I am excited to invite you to join me in supporting the Little Mill Middle School (LMMS) Math Team through an exhilarating math camp! All funds raised from this math camp will go directly to the LMMS Math Team to support their needs in math education. In the pursuit of academic excellence, I believe in providing students with opportunities that go beyond the classroom, and this math camp is a fantastic way to nurture a love for numbers and problem-solving.

Background

As a middle schooler, I was an avid competitor in MATHCOUNTS, the AMCs, and other local competitions. Coming into high school, I continued math but started to focus more on giving back to the community by spreading my love for math. Through the MATHCOUNTS Community Coaching program for high school alumni, I have started the Little Mill Middle School Math Team at no cost to the students or the school.

For almost three months now, I have been meeting weekly with 13 excited and intelligent students. We have solved many problems from competitions like MOEMS, MATHCOUNTS, and Noetic covering a variety of topics from systems of equations to areas to probability. While these students have been growing as problem solvers, they have not had the opportunity to showcase their skills at local competitions due to the registration fees. Since I am committed to making this club free for anyone who has a passion for math, I took it upon myself to create a math camp for other aspiring mathletes to support the LMMS Math Team.

The Benefits

The funds from this math camp will go directly to the LMMS Math Team student registration fees for the MOEMS and Noetic competitions and other club activities. By supporting the LMMS Math Team, you are contributing to the development of these essential skills in students and preparing them for success in their academic journey and future careers.

There’s more to this camp than just supporting other students with a passion for math. This math camp is not just about equations and theorems — it's about creating an environment that empowers students to think creatively, analyze problems, and develop critical thinking skills needed in future generations. Through engaging lessons, team problem-solving, and friendly competitions, students will solidify a foundation in mathematics while meeting peers with similar interests.

Conclusion

Join us on this exciting journey of mathematical exploration and help us support the LMMS Math Team! Let’s create an unforgettable experience for these young minds by fostering a love for learning and opening doors to a future filled with endless possibilities. Your contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference in shaping the next generation of mathematicians and problem solvers.
